Dentures
Dentures are removable appliances that are used to replace missing teeth. Dentures are supported by the soft and hard tissues in the mouth. Patients can lose teeth for many reasons such as periodontal disease, tooth decay, trauma, etc. There are two types of dentures: partial and complete.
Removable partial dentures are used for patients who are missing some of their teeth and is held in place by the surrounding teeth. Complete dentures are for patients who are missing all of their teeth on the maxillary or mandibular arch.
Dentures can assist patients in numerous ways: chewing, aesthetics, speech, and personal self esteem. Dentures may take some time getting used to but the normal functionality and appearance will return. Implants may be used to further stabilize the dentures.
